Job Description

Astrum Search is working with a growing Top 10 firm to recruit a new Senior Controls Manager into their Risk Advisory service line. The role is based in Manchester, with the option of Leeds or Liverpool and will be working within their corporate division.

The role will work with corporate clients and will lead multiple team's and assignments with varying complexity across multiple sectors. You will play an integral role in the strategy of the service line and be heavily involved in business development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead work for your clients. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests and needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients.
  • Technical knowledge. This includes scoping and delivering internal control projects including identifying and documenting process flows, risk and control matrices, identification of deficiencies and remediation plans. You may also lead on assurance testing of controls including testing the design, effectiveness and evaluation the impact of deficiencies. 
  • Identify and recognise business and sales opportunities with new and existing clients and inform the management team as appropriate.
  • Engage in networking and building internal and external relationships to identify new business and sales opportunities for new and existing clients.
  • Assist in the development of the junior members of the team including delivery of formal or on-the-job training where required and providing timely feedback.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, MIIA or CCAB or equivalent
  • Awareness of compliance, legislative and market issues relevant to client businesses.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan effectively, adopting a logical and methodical approach in order to meet tight deadlines and balance client needs. 
  • Previous experience in a manager role within practice.
  • Experience of risk management, internal audit and systems/controls testing
