This role is all about delivering TPA engagements and related advice to a wide range of clients operating across a range of sectors and supporting them in preparing to meet upcoming reporting and assurance requirements. It is an opportunity for an experienced individual with strong assurance and consulting skills to help them fulfil their obligations to wider stakeholders. Building on your existing knowledge of TPA reporting standards (ISAE 3000, ISAE 3402, ISAE 3410, AAF 01/20, SOC1/2, ISRS 4400 etc), we will invest in developing your understanding of what it really means for our client’s businesses so that you can deliver assurance and advice that is meaningful to our clients and fulfilling to you. The work you will undertake will be a mixture of independent assurance assessments of varying subject matter including complex criteria and requirements, as well as forward looking advisory projects to help clients succeed in preparedness for assurance in the future. There will also be the opportunity for Involvement in ESG related assurance due to evolving assurance standards and the regulatory reporting landscape.

You will be involved in overseeing multiple concurrent projects with teams of varying sizes, supporting clients at varying stages of their reporting journey under the various

international and localised reporting standards ensuring clients reporting is subject to independent assurance in line with quality requirements.

You will be leading projects and supporting the overall growth of our TPA team and delivery capabilities and have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients. You will play an important role in developing and maintaining deep client relationships and in developing members of the BDO team. You will have the opportunity to further develop specialist sub sector, technical and regulatory knowledge and be involved in both business and team development.

Responsibilities:

• Contributing to technical updates, support in planning discussions, issue resolution, and training of staff

• Overseeing assurance reviews – providing support to junior team members and being the key conduit for day-to-day client communications

• Managing a growing portfolio of client projects covering a mixture of sizes, industries and complexity. Supporting the growth of the junior team across our portfolio and providing on the job training for our graduate and junior resources utilised on assurance projects

• Involvement in key activities, which may include recruitment, forecasting, people management, resource utilisation, quality assurance etc.

• Commercial oversight of engagements to ensure they are manged within budget and the client is appraised throughout

• Supporting on proposal projects for prospective clients; including formal pitch delivery to senior client stakeholders as required

• Oversight of client engagements, ensuring projects are well managed and commercially viable by budgeting effectively, billing clients promptly and discussing inefficiencies / overruns in a timely manner

• Active consideration of possible business opportunities for the team and bringing them to the attention of the Director and Partner

To be successful in this role you will need will have the following skills and experience:

• External or internal audit or regulatory assurance or advisory work experience

• Experience in delivering work under recognised assurance standards (ISAE 3000, ISAE 3402, ISAE 3410, AAF 01/20, SOC1/2 etc) and the ability to review varying subject matter & criteria to determine appropriate assurance approach

• Have undertaken complex and large assurance assignments and have an

understanding of review methodologies and techniques including assignment planning and risk assessments

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to influence, lead, engage, and manage stakeholders

• Ability to lead complex reviews including managing a team of managers and junior staff members, performing final review of files, key deliverables and ensuring file quality meets assurance, ISQM1 and internal requirements for quality.

• Understanding of risk management and internal control – importantly how this is applied in an assurance capacity

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner

• Strong project management skills and a track record of successful delivery

Responsibilities:

• Providing technical expertise to the DRAS team on TPA reporting matters including contributing to technical updates, support in planning discussions, issue resolution, developing frameworks/methodologies in relation evolving frameworks / topics and training of staff

• Leading on and overseeing assurance reviews – providing support to junior team members and being key client conduits for all communication

• Oversight and responsibility for a growing portfolio of client projects covering a mixture of sizes, industries and complexity. Ownership of growing junior team across this portfolio and providing on the job training for our graduate and junior resources utilised on assurance projects

• Representing BDO at client meetings and leading senior management committee meetings

• Involvement in key activities, which may include recruitment, forecasting, people management, resource utilisation, quality assurance etc.

• Commercial oversight of engagements to ensure they are manged within budget and the client is appraised throughout

• Actively assisting with identifying and realising the business development opportunities through marketing, recruitment and training, and development of methodologies

• Leading on proposal projects for prospective clients; including preparing a no / go assessment of the opportunity, coordinating stakeholders, formal pitch delivery to senior client stakeholders as required

• Oversight and accountability for client projects, ensuring projects are well managed and commercially viable by budgeting effectively, billing clients promptly and discussing inefficiencies / overruns in a timely manner

• Active consideration of possible business opportunities for the team and

bringing them to the attention of the Director and Partner

• Attending networking events and conferences to ensure knowledge and skills remain up-to-date and to promote BDO’s services where appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will need will have the following skills and experience:

The role offers a great opportunity to develop your existing internal controls and risk management knowledge within a national, supportive and close-knit team. High quality training and development will be provided to the successful candidate.

We work on a large variety of clients largely within the large and listed space. We work with clients to design and build their internal controls and also provide assurance of their existing control framework.

As a Senior Manager you will be responsible for delivering multiple assignments of high complexity and variety.

You will work closely with and support more senior members of the team in the strategic development of the stream including assisting with strategy, drive marketing and business development.Services you can expect to fall within your portfolio are delivery

of US SoX testing, design and implementation of controls as well as ad- hoc advisory services.

You will work independently and be accountable for the delivery of the project to the Partner or Director for review including determination of resource requirements to service your assignments, monitor progress against budget and time-frames, review work of more junior members of staff and resolve issues prior to Partner review.

In addition to client facing work, you will also work to provide support to and drive departmental issues including coaching and feedback to more junior members of staff, ensuring compliance with the stream’s policies and procedures and the firm’s risk management procedures.

Key skills: Confident communicator, strong organisation, team player and able to research and resolve technical challenges.

Responsibilities:

Servicing clients

Lead work for your clients. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests and needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients.

Technical knowledge. This includes scoping and delivering internal control projects including identifying and documenting process flows, risk and control matrices, identification of deficiencies and remediation plans. You may also lead on assurance testing of controls including testing the design, effectiveness and evaluation the impact of deficiencies.

Review the work of managers, providing a supporting framework as well as other more junior members, providing timely constructive feedback to enable the development and improvement of other’s technical ability. Act as a point of contact for more junior members of the team for technical advice.

In addition to internal controls and SOX capabilities, you will have a rounded business knowledge, able to analyse client data, make recommendations and talk credibly to clients on the issues they face. You will also have a good working knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102 accounting standards.

Displays sound judgement on when to escalate issues to management or involve other experts to support clients.

Ensure that the firm’s risk management and quality control procedures are adhered to at all times.

Business Development

Identify and recognise business and sales opportunities with new and existing clients and inform the management team as appropriate.

Engage in networking and building internal and external relationships to identify new business and sales opportunities for new and existing clients.

Scope new projects and construct accurate fee proposals and budgets for review.

Collaborating on the day-to-day management of the pipeline, ensuring all opportunities are recorded and proactively followed up.

Monitors delivery against a project plan and intervenes or escalates issues to management as necessary to ensure engagements stay within budgets.

Support the management team with the implementation and communication of any new business strategy for existing clients, target clients and the internal business.

Training and Development

Assist in the development of the junior members of the team including delivery of formal or on-the-job training where required and providing timely feedback.

Act as a role model for the team.

You’ll be someone with:

• Qualified ACA, ACCA, MIIA or CCAB or equivalent

• SOX experience or UK internal controls frameworks

• Awareness of compliance, legislative and market issues relevant to client businesses.

• Ability to prioritise and plan effectively, adopting a logical and methodical approach in order to meet tight deadlines and balance client needs.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Desirable

• Previous experience in a manager role within practice.

• Experience of risk management, internal audit and systems/controls testing

• Strong working knowledge of UK reporting standards (including UK GAAP and UK- adopted IFRS) and related financial reporting requirements.

• Experience in Microsoft Visio (or similar software)

• Experience of using power BI
