Job Description

Astrum Search is working with an international media business to recruit a Risk Manager. This is a newly created role in an expanding in-house team. There have been several changes in the wider internal audit and risk team of late and you'll have chance to make a real impact. 

Reporting to the Head of Risk, the Risk Manager will ultimately be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the risk function. You'll be part of a close-knit team and work closely with the wider internal audit and compliance teams to deliver value-adding risk management services to the business. It's a high profile team that will gain vast exposure to this complex business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the performance and delivery of risk outputs and deliverable including risk reports.
  • Write detailed reports suitable for Board-level executives.
  • Prepare risk insights and recommendations to leadership teams and relevant committees.
  • Take a lead role in the timely delivery of activities and assignments across the business. 
  • Build strong relationships, negotiate with – and influence – management.
  • Assist in managing the team, assessing priorities, delivering quality of team's work, getting output right first time.
  • Lead on quality assurance, ensuring work is in line with professional standards. 
  • Maintain knowledge on business strategy to help inform risk activities. 

Skills & Experience:

  • Direct experience of working in an enterprise risk role previously.
  • Prior experience is media or technology sectors ideal.
  • A professional qualification is desirable (ACA/IRM/IIA/CIMA etc).
  • Ability to examine, analyse and contextualise complex issues; identify key points and develop effective, practical and simple recommendations to resolve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, as well as influence when needed.
  • Prior management experience desirable.
