Risk Manager
M Group Services is currently looking to recruit a Risk Manager for our UK and Ireland based business. M Group Services operates in the energy, water, highways, rail, aviation and telecom industries and has experienced rapid growth over recent years. As such, it’s a really exciting time to join the team. This is a key role that will sit within the established and expanding Group Assurance team, consisting of Risk Management, Business Continuity and Internal Audit professionals who provide independent insight, advice and assurance across all businesses in the Group.
You will be responsible for ensuring the effective application of risk management practices and embedding risk management further into the culture of the organisation.
Primary responsibilities:
- Assists Head of Risk & Business Continuity to develop the Group risk management framework
- Advises, guides and supports Risk Owners to develop and mature their risk management processes
- Builds strong professional relationships with senior stakeholders around the Group
- Facilitates risk training and workshops
- Accountable for ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, risk and action owners are appointed and controls are relevant to the risks
- Develops and delivers regular risk reports for management and key stakeholders
- Supporting the development and implementation of the group-wide climate risk identification, measurement and reporting framework and processes
- Supporting the development of key metrics to add value to the risk process
- Supporting the maintenance and ongoing enhancement of the Group’s Risk Management Framework, Fraud Risk Framework and Risk Appetite Framework, including review of risk policies and procedures
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- At least 3 years of relevant risk experience in any sector with a strong understanding of risk identification, assessment, management and review
- Can gather, analyse, and interpret information to draw suitable conclusions. Knowledge of web-based database tools and data visualisation tools such as Power BI would be an advantage
- Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills with the ability to influence others, including senior management
- A team player, comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment
- Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders to provide risk advice and support
- Can work independently and respond well to change, prioritising and managing a range of activities to deadlines

- This role would suit a self-motivated and ambitious individual who would act as an ambassador for risk management, coaching others in the requirement, processes and benefits of risk management whilst developing and growing the risk management framework to add further value to the business.
- The Group Assurance team works flexibly and is split between various locations, combining office and remote working. The Head Office is located in Stevenage, and there will also be occasional to other offices and sites in the UK.
